The Twinsburg Tigers and the Hudson Explorers went at it tonight, Hudson starting off with a gaping lead and Twinsburg dragging behind ending the game 31 to 14 with the Explorers on top yet again! Hudson’s defense was solid as always this game and, gave the Tigers a hard time advancing the ball when they were on offense. The amount of yards gained for the Tigers in the first half was very minimal, however the Explorers came out the gate swinging putting their foot on the Tigers necks and not letting up, until later in the game.
In the first quarter Hudson starts with great offense advancing the ball and, kicking the first field goal of the game putting 3 points up on the score board. Twinsburg struggled to advance the ball on offense and, the quarterback faced some adversity trying to find his teammates to make a play or complete a pass to one of the receivers. The Tigers could not covert on offense so had to punt the ball, however the punter fumbled the ball allowing the Explorers to start their offense right next to their end zone.
The Tigers basically handed the touchdown to the Explorers and Ian Ludewig scored the first touchdown of the game. Twinsburg gets the ball back on offense again and attempted a field goal kick and the ball got blocked by the defense and fell into the hand of Gio DePompei and he raced into the end zone leaving everyone in the dust! Jager Pallay then scored yet another touch for the Explorers ending the first quarter 23 to 0.
The Explorers started the game off hot with a nice scoring streak, however in the second quarter the game started to become more of a defensive game on both sides of the field. Jack Jenkins is the only one who scored a touchdown in this quarter for the Explorers. Twinsburg was getting the short end of the stick due to about 4 people going down through out the game. In the third quarter Twinsburg still didn’t make it on the score board yet. Both teams continued to go back and forth staying in a stalemate of scoring.
In the fourth quarter despite all of the injuries and adversity they had been facing throughout the game the Tigers still stayed resilient and didn’t go out without a fight. Steven Cammack scored the last and first touchdowns of the game for the Tigers making the score deficit smaller than it was before.
Hudson dominated the Twinsburg Tigers tonight and came out on top with an successful win. Ian Ludewig had an exponential game advancing the ball swiftly all game and helping put points up on the board for the Explorers. Although the Tigers struggled most of the game Steven Cammack showed great persistence and effort in the end even though the game was out of reach; he still gave it his all pulling his fellow tigers with him!
The Tigers will be playing Macedonia next week away and the Explorers will be playing at Wadsworth high school next week. The Tigers need to rest up and recuperate to hope to pull out a win next week. The Explores have been on fire in this beginning stretch of games, and their upcoming season looks to be very promising!
