Solon, Ohio – The Hudson Explorers remained unbeaten with a 19-1 win over the host Solon Comets Tuesday evening.
Hudson has averaged 14 goals a game in its 10-0 start to the season. Senior midfielder and Ohio State commit Mackie Stickler got the Explorer offense off and running with three goals in the first six minutes of play. Emily Goodman and Grace Churchwell also added goals of their own to increase the lead to 6-0. The Explorers led 6-1 after one quarter.
Six different Explorers found the back of the net in the second quarter as the lead swelled to 13-1 at the half. Goal scorers included Lexie St. Pierre, Kellen Berkley, Katie England, Lauren Brownlee, Grace Churchwell, and Mackie Stickler.
Hudson added three more goals in the third quarter. Sophomore Kellen Berkley added her second at the 9:33 mark. Freshman Claire Oraizen and sophomore Kelsie Moore also scored in the period.
In the final stanza, Mackie Stickler added to her already impressive evening with two more goals. She scored seven in total, the last coming off an impressive behind-the-back pass from teammate Lexie St. Pierre. Ashli Pearson and Libby Thomas also scored in the quarter to cap the scoring.
In total, 11 different Hudson players scored on the evening. Sophomore goalie Charlie Wanders had an impressive game with six saves on the evening. Solon senior Luci Narvaez scored the lone goal for the Comets in the first quarter.
Hudson moves to 11-0 on the year and will host Revere on Thursday night and Wadsworth on Friday night. Solon drops to 10-5 and looks to bounce back at Copley on Thursday evening.
