Hudson Explorers three-peat as regional champions with 11-3 win over Massillon Jackson

Hudson, Ohio – The Hudson Explorers continued their perfect season with an 11-3 victory over Massillon Jackson in the Division I, Region 2 final Thursday evening.

Lauren Brownley got the scoring started with a goal at the 7:28 mark of the first quarter, putting Hudson in front, 1-0. Becky Yoder knotted things up at 1 a piece with a goal for Massillon Jackson. The Polar Bears would take the lead two minutes later on a goal from Taylor Vogt.

Hudson wouldn’t trail for long. A Kellen Berkeley goal off an assist from Mackie Stickler made sure of that, evening the score at 2. Stickler herself found the back of the net, putting the Explorers in front, 3-2. Grace Churchwell added one of her own, making the score 4-2 after one quarter.

Junior Lanie Lewis scored the lone goal of the second quarter, putting Hudson ahead, 5-2 at the half.

Hudson pulled away behind a strong third quarter. Grace Churchwell added her second goal of the game, increasing the lead to 6-2. Mackie Stickler scored her second just over a minute later. Lexie St. Pierre added a goal of her own less than a minute after that, increasing the margin to 8-2. Taylor Vogt added her second goal to cut the Polar Bear deficit to 8-3. Lanie Lewis added her second goal of the game with seven seconds left in the third quarter to increase the Hudson lead to 9-3 after three.

Mackie Stickler found the back of the net for the third time on the evening with a goal at the 10:14 mark of the final stanza. Emily Goodman added a tally with 41 seconds left for the final margin.

Hudson advances to their third straight final four where they will take on Olentangy Liberty. This matchup is set to take place on Tuesday, June 3rd at Ashland.
