by The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), the first and only men’s league designated by USASA as a Tier 1 national league, is proud to announce that Hub City FC has joined the league. The club will begin play in the 2026 season.
“We are excited to welcome Hub City FC into the NPSL family,” NPSL Managing Director Cindy Spera said. “Maryland is a hotbed of American soccer, and we are looking forward to seeing continued growth of the NPSL brand in that region.”
The team is led by Michael Long, Pete Medd, and Rich Daughtridge.
Long is a former restaurateur who introduced Frederick, MD to the soccer bar concept in 1998. He is the former owner and operator of the Bushwaller’s Football Club that competed in the U.S. Amateur Cup, Maryland Major Soccer League, and Washington International Soccer League. He has over 30 years of experience in business and football operations, serving as a player, coach, club creator, and referee.
Medd is a former collegiate Division I All-American, professional player, manager, and owner. He served as general manager and head coach for Crystal Palace Baltimore in the USL and NASL. He has extensive experience playing, coaching, and managing American collegiate and professional soccer. He is currently VP of Global Teamwear at TRU Athletic.
Daughtridge is a Hall of Fame member and all-time leading goal scorer at Virginia Military Institute. He played professionally both indoors and outdoors, winning national titles with the Baltimore Blast. He is a lifelong entrepreneur who has created marketing and entertainment industry successes, serving as President and CEO of Warehouse Cinemas and co-founder of HighRock.
“Our objective during our first season in the NPSL is to provide a professional, inexpensive, family-friendly experience for our community,” Long said. “The main goal of this club is to show our community we were built for them and our relationship with the community is the most important aspect of our existence. On the field we hope to be competitive, minimizing our weaknesses and maximizing our strengths to have a respectable and lesson-learning first season, while providing entertainment for our supporters.”
