Holy Name Runs Past Lakewood 32-2

The Holy Name Green Wave improved to 4-2 with a commanding 32-2 victory over Lakewood tonight.  This was on the strength of 5 rushing touchdowns for the Namers! Also, a suffocating defense that allowed zero points.

With 13 seconds left in the opening quarter, and the game still scoreless, Holy Name was faced with a fourth and four inside the Lakewood 20 and decided to go for out.  The gamble paid off as Williams found a crossing Andrew Cole to complete the first down and extend the drive into the second quarter.  It resulted in points as Williams took it in himself from five yards out to open the scoring.  The Namers missed the extra point but took the 6-0 lead.

After a Lakewood safety cut into the Namer lead, Holy name put some more points on the board to go up by double digits.  It was Williams again, this time from an incredible 52 yards put as he stormed past the Lakewood defenders with his blitzing speed. They missed the two-point attempt, and the score remained 12-2.

The Namers found the endzone one more time before half, and yet again, did it with the ground game.  This time it was Sanchez getting in on the mix, with a nice 15-yard jaunt to increase the lead to 18-2, where it stood at the half from North Royalton.

The second half started off the same way the first half ended, with another big touchdown run by Sanchez of Holy Name.  Yet again, the two-point attempt failed, but nevertheless, a 24-2 lead was still commanding.  The Namers would get a Wondolowski 3-yard touchdown before the quarter was over, and cruise from there for the 32-2 victory over Lakewood.

The Rangers will look to bounce back next week as they host Parma, who took a drubbing at the hands of Buckeye tonight.  Meanwhile, Holy Name will look to stay hot as they travel to Byers Field to take on Valley Forge.
