Highland Rides Great Defense and Run Game to Huge Victory Over North Royalton

MEDINA, OH – Highland came to play tonight and recorded a massive 41-0 victory in their home opener against North Royalton.

Highland established their presence in the trenches early and didn’t look back.

After forcing a quick 3 and out on North Royalton’s first drive the Hornets would go on a six play, 72-yard drive that ended on a Lukas Stiles 10-yard run.

The rest of the half would be more of the same. Three and outs from North Royalton and Lukas Stiles going to work on the ground.

On the Hornets second drive of the game, they marched 60 yards on 11 plays, scoring on a 1-yard run by quarterback Andrew Lurtz giving them a 13-0 lead.

Another Bears three and out would lead to a 80-yard drive by the Hornets ending on a Stiles 10-yard touchdown run.

The Hornets defense would once again force a three and out and score with 13 seconds left in the half, this time on a Lurtz pass to Stiles for a 35-yard score making the halftime lead 27-0.

The Hornets ended the first half with 14 first downs while the Bears only had 13 total yards.A very dominant performance from the Hornets as the run game and defense were firing on all cylinders. 

The Hornets would pick up right where they left off in the first half taking the opening drive 68 yards and scoring on a 11-yard pass from Lurtz to receiver Matt Ciryak. That extended the lead to 34, ending the game for most of the starters.

Running back Casey Myser took a run 30-yards to the house with 4:31 left making it 41-0 Highland.

Running back Cody Miller and Quarterback Joe Kinney would fight hard for the Bears but it just wasn’t enough.

Lukas Stiles finished the game with 145 yards and three total touchdowns. Almost all of his production came from the first half alone. A very impressive performance from the senior.

Lurtz passed for 121 yards and also had three total touchdowns for Highland.

These great performances give Highland a 2-0 start on the year.

North Royalton drops to 1-1.
