Hakeem Quran Breaks Single Game Lakewood Rushing Record Versus Fairview

Story submitted by Kenny Currie

The Fairview Warriors (0-2) took on the Lakewood Rangers (2-0) at Lakewood Stadium on Friday night. On the first possession of the game, Lakewood drove the ball down the field with running back Hakeem Quran and then capped the drive off with a 30-yard touchdown run by Javion Goudy.

After that it was all Lakewood and Quran. The talented running back finished the first quarter with 164 yards and 2 touchdowns, including a 66-yard stretch play he took to the house. Lakewood would finish the first quarter up 21-0 and never looked back.

The Rangers defense also did not disappoint. Fairview was never able to get into a rhythm. Every time quarterback Sean McNamara tried to get anything done, multiple defenders were in his face. His running back Zach Wilson also had a similar experience with the Ranger defense.

By the end of the 3rd quarter, Quran already broke the Lakewood high school single game rushing record. He finished the game with 322 yards and 7 touchdowns.

This Lakewood team demonstrated how talented they are as well as how good they can be come playoff time. If the Rangers keep performing like they did last night, we could see a sustained playoff push.

Lakewood’s 55-3 win moves them to 3-0, but they put the perfect record on the line next week against 2-1 Rocky River at home.

Fairview will look to bounce back next week when they travel to Normandy (1-1).

Player of the Game: Hakeem Quran – 26 carries for 322 yards, 7 touchdowns and 1 reception for 15 yards
