Green wraps up 2021 with 58-42 victory over Hoban

Green, Ohio – In a New Years Eve matinee Friday afternoon, the Green Bulldogs knocked off visiting Hoban, 58-42 to close out the 2021 portion of their season.

Green led 16-10 at the end of the first quarter, as both teams pushed the pace aggressively.

After a bucket to start the second quarter, Hoban went on a run to cut their deficit to 18-16. But a Zack Oddo three and a Brady Rollyson bucket pushed the Bulldog lead to 23-16.

An Isaiah Weirich three gave the Bulldogs a 35-21 lead going into halftime.

The Bulldogs padded their lead to as much as 18 in the third quarter, but the Knights would not go quietly.

William Scott stepped it up in the second half, as did the Hoban defense. The Knights cut their deficit to 45-32 at the end of the quarter thanks to Scott’s three.

A Jonas Nichols three cut the deficit to ten, but Hoban could get no closer. Brady Rollyson converted a three-point play to keep the Green lead over ten, and Bulldogs held on from there.

Sophomore guard Brady Rollyson had 21 points to lead the Bulldogs, and Zack Oddo had 12.

This victory capped a stretch of back-to-back victories against non-conference opponents in two days.

Green improves to 9-1. They host Canton McKinley Tuesday, January 4, to continue Federal League play.

For Hoban, junior guard Will Scott had 22 points, 17 of them in the second half. Sophomore guard Jonas Nichols had seven.

Hoban drops to 3-3. They host Dalton Tuesday, January 4 in a non-conference showdown.
