JCPenney shoppers at Great Northern Mall have nothing to worry about for now as the corporation sale list has left off that location for now . The location is unlike one of 120 locations nationwide that will be for sale in January. I repeat, thankfully, this location is NOT one of 120 nationwide up for sale. Altogether, it is reported that the square footage will be over 17 million square feet, spanning 36 states. That is a lot of room for real estate folks once all stores are sold.
This is hardly new however as an entity that was created after JCPenney filed for bankruptcy in 2020 (Copper Property CTL Pass Through Trust) has been employed to sell over 120 JCPenney properties and since completed the sales of 34 stores, earning well over $490 million.
Other locations up for sale include the JCPenney’s at Stone Creek Town Center in Colerain Township, The Shops at Fallen Timbers in Maumee near Toledo, Polaris Fashion Place’s JCPenney at 1450 Polaris Parkway and Tuttle Crossing mall’s store at 5083 Tuttle Crossing Blvd.
What it will become of the one at SouthPark is anyone’s guess, but with the first of the year upon us and everyone thinking health, a fitness center for shoppers to workout at while their spouses or partners shop, would be one heck of an idea! As for this Great Northern location, thank goodness it remains open as I have a charge account there and absolutely love it!
