Grading The 2021 NFL Cleveland Browns Draft

3rd Round – Pick 91

WR – Anthony Schwartz – Auburn

How do I say this without angering a lot of people?  Schwartz will either be a bust, or the first sign that OBJ may not be here in the fall.  Clearly, I do not see him replacing OBJ as the number one receiver, but I think the odd’s of him being a bust are a lot less.

He is deadly in open space and was the fastest wideout in the draft.  He is not very big however and despite his ability to go over the top, I don’t see him winning many jump balls either. He may not win too many one on ones, but at the same time he can catch one in the slot and take it to the house.

There is very little defenses can do to stop his speed when he gets in open field and he catches anything thrown to him.  A lot of what he does, they already have with Donovan Peoples Jones, including the ability to return kicks.  But you can never have too much of a good thing when it comes to NFL talent.

So, I will say it one more time, with Landy, Higgins, Peoples Jones and now Schwartz, is the writing on the door for OBJ? OBJ’s biggest play last year was a Jet Sweep against Dallas, that is one of the things Schwartz does best.

Grade B – Is he the next Travis Benjamin, a one trick pony?  Or is he a faster version of a Julian Edelman or Wes Welker? A guy who can be counted on in the slot and going deep for the next 8-10 years?
