Gilmour Defeats Valley Forge in Dominant 35-6 Win

PARMA, OH – With the way Gilmour came out pushing the ball down the field, you would have thought they were playing at home. They came out with a fast tempo with no signs of slowing down. Valley Forge did all they could to slow down the Lancer attack.

Hard-Fought First

On the opening drive of the game, Gilmour was waltzing down the field deep into Valley Forge territory. They were looking to score on their opening drive of the season. Valley Forge had different plans as they picked off Gilmour QB Jake Kavcic at the 10 yard-line. The Patriots struggled on offense for much of the quarter. However, on their first possession, they pushed the ball deep into Lancer territory. That’s where the drive would stop though as they turned the ball over on downs. Late in the first, Jake Kavcic would find wide receiver Sean Dillard for a 27-yard touchdown to start the scoring. Gilmour recovered the ensuing onside kick but failed to do anything on offense.

Jake Kavcic Takeover

After the Lancer defense forced a turnover late in the first quarter, Jake Kavcic started to take over. On the first play of the second quarter, Kavcic found Sean Dillard for their 2nd touchdown connection of the half. Just minutes later, Kavcic once again found Sean Dillard for their 3rd touchdown of the game. While Kavcic was using his arm for most of the half, he decided to show off his legs. Late in the quarter, Jake scrambled for a 9-yard touchdown run to cap off an incredible quarter. In the second quarter alone, Kavcic threw for 53 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also added 41 yards on the ground to go with a touchdown. Gilmour had run away with the game and led 28-0 at the half.

Gilmour Says Goodnight

Senior quarterback Jake Kavcic was on the bench for the majority of the second half. However, before his game was over, he connected with Brody Lennon for a 62-yard touchdown catch and run. This gave the Lancers a 35-0 lead and a running clock until the Patriots could pull to withing 30. Gilmour’s defense was a force for the whole game for Valley Forge as they struggled to move the ball against the Lancer defense. The Patriots did not score until 34 seconds left in the ballgame. Running back Daniel Scheffler hit paydirt with a 7-yard touchdown run to put Valley Forge on the board. The final score saw Gilmour come out on top in dominant fashion 35-6.
