Gates Mills, Ohio – Senior Cooper Panteck tossed six touchdowns Friday evening to propel the Gilmour Lancers to a 54-0 win over University School.
Senior Lars Broberg got the ball rolling for Gilmour with a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to open the game. The ensuing two-point try was no good, and Gilmour had an early 6-0 lead.
The margin would stay at 6-0 until the midway point of the second quarter. Cooper Panteck would connect with senior Nick Iliano for a 55-yard touchdown reception, and found Iliano for the two-point try. This would increase the Lancer lead to 14-0 with 5:51 left in the second quarter.
After a US punt, Gilmour would find the end zone once again, as Cooper Panteck connected with Nick Iliano once again, this time for a 23-yard touchdown reception. The Lancer lead stood at 20-0 with 2:42 left in the second quarter.
For the third time in the second quarter, Cooper Panteck would find Nick Iliano, this time from nine yards out. The ensuing two-point try was good, and Gilmour led 28-0 with with 1:08 left in the first half.
Iliano would recover the ensuing kickoff to put the Lancers in business once again. They would capitalize as Cooper Panteck found Lars Broberg for a two-yard touchdown toss with 9.7 left to go. Gilmour Academy took a 34-0 lead into the halftime break.
The second half began with a running clock due to the 30+ point margin.
University School marched into Lancer territory, looking for their first points of the game. But CJ Santagata picked off a Carson Panteck pass and the Lancers were in business once again.
Nathan Lennon rushed for a two-yard touchdown to increase the lead to 40-0 with 45.6 left in the third quarter.
Panteck tossed his fifth touchdown of the game to senior tight end and Ohio State football commit Brody Lennon from 54 yards out. The Lancers would up their lead to 46-0 with 6:28 to play in the final quarter.
Matthew Soeder picked off a pass and returned it to the US ten-yard line. Cooper Panteck capped his big night with a ten-yard touchdown toss to Lars Broberg with :29.4 left. It was the sixth touchdown toss of the game from Panteck, who also ran in the conversion for the final points.
Gilmour Academy moves to 6-0, and travels to Cleveland Central Catholic on Saturday, October 5th.
University School, now 2-4, hosts Lutheran East on Friday, October 4th.
