What Olmsted Falls brings
These Lady Bulldogs are tough. They are at least 8 deep in regards to talent that could start, and with the constant rotation they can afford to play a high paced attack while also having the incredible skill set to play a half court offense as well. It is no day off for the opponent when players like Ashley Keener, Sara Glover and Lauren Noernberg are coming off the bench.
Paige Kohler has become one of the most exciting players in not just the SWC but all of the OHSAA to watch. She is deadly with the crossover and can also step back and nail an NBA range three with ease.
She reminds me of a female version of Allen Iverson, minus the tattoos and trash talk. For those of you reading this born after 2000, just go You Tube some of his highlights, I promise you he was really good.
Grace Simon is right there with her and is the best three ball threat in the SWC. Simon is tough and a leader on this squad. Her love of the game is infectious and her teammates build off of that. I cannot say enough good things about Simon and how she plays the game.
The pressure defense they run is absolutely stifling. A game can be close, then they turn it up a notch and the next thing you know it’s a blowout and the game is over in the second quarter. Go back and watch their victories over Berea-Midpark for more on that.
Speaking of defense, they have a trio of defenders who can shutdown an attack in seconds. Lauren Galaska, Mia Kalich and Allison Milligan are as tough as they come on that end. They break the spirit of teams with constant pressure. Milli is everywhere, Kalich shuts down the paint and Galaska is as tenacious as can be.
Speaking of spirit, this team has plenty of that and it starts in the offseason. They have bonded like no group I have ever seen before. After back-to-back early exits in the playoffs, they want this game badly and they will absolutely bring their best.
I spoke with head coach Jordan Eaton who had this to say about what challenges Avon will bring his team, “Avon does a great job running the floor offensively. They can get a layup in a split second. We will focus on defending those quick run-outs they are so good at. “
Eaton went on to say this about his team’s confidence heading in to the big game, “We are always humble and confident.”
