Beachwood, Ohio – In a non-conference showdown Saturday night, Fuchs Mizrachi defeated Orange, 49-41.

The Mayhem came out to their namesake, knocking down big basket after big basket in the first quarter.

Netaniel Jacobs and Eitan Joel knocked down three-point shots to energize the home crowd. These buckets were part of a back-and-forth quarter that resulted in Fuchs Mizrachi leading 12-10.

In the second quarter, the Mayhem padded their lead with an aggressive defense. This effort led to several buckets in transition, from junior forward Ephraim Blau and sophomore Eitan Gecovich. Blau had nine points in the quarter, as the Mayhem padded their lead to 30-20 at the break.

An Ari Jacobi bucket increased the lead to 32-20 before Orange made their rally.

Sophomore forward Dominic Anekwe had nine of his 13 points in the third quarter. He drove to the hole and drew fouls left and right, and converted free throws.

The charity stripe conversions and an aggressive defense sparked Orange to an 11-0 run, giving them a 33-32 lead midway through the third.

However, Fuchs Mizrachi responded with a run of their own.

Junior forward Ephraim Blau hit two key layups late in the third to give the Mayhem the lead, 38-35 at the end of three.

They would pad their lead to 43-35, thanks to an 11-2 run that spanned the third and fourth quarters.

The Mayhem also stepped it up on defense during this stretch. Blau and Jacobs each hit a pair of big buckets to help the Mayhem maintain their momentum. From there, Fuchs Mizrachi hung on for the victory.

Ephraim Blau had 18 points, including nine in the second quarter for the Mayhem. Netaniel Jacobs had 15, Ari Jacobs had six, Eitan Joel had five, and Eitan Gecovich had four.

Fuchs Mizrachi (8-3) hosts HEARTS for Jesus Christ Tuesday evening.

Orange (8-8) had 13 points from Dominic Anekwe, ten from junior forward Noah Page, and nine from senior forward Trevor Moss. They host Chagrin Falls Tuesday evening to continue CVC Chagrin play.
