MACTION is back in the city of Kent, Ohio. The Kent State Golden Flashes play their long awaited home opener of the 2022 college football season after a rough first two weeks of the season. This week the Golden Flashes were taking Long Island University, how would this game be after a rough first two weeks.

This week three matchup saw Kent State dominate early and often, Colin Schlee the quarterback for Kent State threw for 199 yards and two touchdown passes in today’s win. He completed 10 of his 12 passes today. The Kent State running game was equally as dominant today in the 63-10 win over LIU. With 353 total rushing yards for the Flashes offense. The star running back of the game for the Flashes were Marquez Cooper with 89 rushing yards in today’s huge victory.

The game also saw a big breakout by Gavin Garcia. The freshman had a huge game, rushing for 82 yards and a touchdown. The game also saw Garcia have a huge punt block, which ended up with the Flashes recovering the ball and scoring a touchdown.

On the receiver front of the game for the Flashes. Dante Cephas had another great performance. This game saw him catch four passes for 75 yards receiving and a touchdown, which was his first touchdown of the young season.

This game was also important as it saw Kent State with their tenth win in a row at home, a streak that dates back to the 2019 season. That is the longest home winning streak in the program’s history.

On the other side this game was a struggle for the Long Island Sharks. Their offense could never seem to get it going in this game. The only player on their offense that managed to have a good game was tight end Owen Glascoe. Glascoe finished the game with five receptions with 101 yards receiving and the only touchdown of the game for the Sharks.

This was an all around dominant win for the Flashes. Coach Sean Lewis after the game mentioned that it is alway good to get a win. He went on to say that he is excited for the next home game, which is in two weeks. Saying that he went to the 20,000 seat stadium to be sold out for the game against the Ohio Bobcats.

Unfortunately for the Flashes that game is in two weeks, and next week’s game on the road is against the defending national champions and first ranked team in the nation the Georgia Bulldogs. This is easily the most difficult game on the schedule, and probably the hardest game the Flashes have had under coach Lewis. It will be interesting to see if the Flashes can hang in there with the defending champions, but for today it is a victory Saturday for the Golden Flashes.
