- Alex Taylor – OT – South Carolina St. – 6’8” 308 lbs.
The Browns are intrigued by the former South Carolina high school basketball star. Taylor played only 17 games of football at the high school level. He enrolled at Appalachian State but only played four games as a reserve in two seasons.
Taylor transferred to South Carolina State and after serving his junior season as a backup started 11 games his senior season. He was a named a third-team All-American by the Associated Press and earned first-team All-MEAC. He ran a 5.09 40-yard dash at the NFL Draft Combine and bench pressed 225 lbs. 21 times.
The 6’8” Taylor has a combination of length and athleticism that will make most scouts drool. He has all of the tools to play at the next level but will need a lot of patience and coaching. Taylor has a good shot of at least ending up on the Browns practice squad this season as a developmental tackle.
