Fan Survey: Cleveland Indians Edition

We thought it would be fun on this lazy Monday night, to poll the fans and find out what they really think about all things Cleveland Indians this season!  Also, a few quick trips down memory lane as well.

In fact, I even decided to join in the fun, and have left my answers listed as (A) under each question.

Leave your answers in the comment section below and enjoy!

Q – Does Terry Francona deserve manager of the year?

A – Absolutely yes he does! When you look a the injuries to the starting rotation and the bats he lost in the offseason. I don’t think there is any question.

I don’t know of too many folks who would have complained about 74 wins on August 19th when you factor in the destruction of our opening day starting rotation.

Q – Have you gotten over the whole “Chief Wahoo Issue”?

A – I have, I was 100% against them getting rid of it and own several pieces of clothing with the words “Save the Chief” on it. But at the end of the day, does it honestly matter anymore? I love the red jerseys and the blue jerseys.

Both look great. The hat’s with the (I) on them look cheesy compared to Chief Wahoo, but again, at the end of the day, it isn’t worth the argument. Just play ball and win!

Q- Will the Indians win the American League Central?

A – Sorry, but no. They may be better then the Twins, but the Twinkies have an extremely soft schedule the rest of the way.

Plus, Minnesota just doesn’t lose many games despite shaky pitching. Their lineup is loaded and they should be able to wrap up the division by Mid to late September.

All that being said however, I absolutely think we could beat them in a best of seven if it happens in the playoffs. Cleveland is the better team.

Q- Will the Indians be one of the two wildcard teams if they don’t win the division?

A – Yes, it will be tough and I see it coming down to the last week of the season between them, Oakland, Boston and Tampa.

Q – Would you rather have Michael Brantley, Yandy Diaz, Edwin Encarnacion and Josh Donaldson or Puig, Reyes, Jake Bauers and Carlos Santana?

A – Diaz, Brantley, Encarnacion and Donaldson. Puig wont sign here and Brantley is a leader when healthy. Also, don’t be sold on Santana staying here forever, everyone keeps saying how much he feels at home since he got traded back. I’m not sure I’m 100% sold on that given the history.  He left you once, he will leave you again one day.

Q – Should they trade Corey Kluber in the offseason?

A – I love Kluber and he may go down as one of the greatest pitchers in team history. But yet again, the Indians front office has shown they are in cost cutting mode and I do not see them signing him again long term.

Also, he hasn’t been the same since dominating in the 2016 Playoffs and World Series. True, he got skunked in Game Seven against the Cubs, but he was incredible until that night.

Against the Yankee’s in 2017, I’m positive he was hurt with a bad back.  Last year, who knows what his problem was against the Astro’s.  Either way, the trust level in Kluber has greatly decreased over the last two Octobers.

Kluber when healthy, is one of the best pitchers in baseball. But again, injury concerns and upcoming contract numbers make him trade bait this offseason.

Q – Is CC Sabathia a Hall of Famer?

A – Okay, so I realize this is not relevant to today and I get that. But as a former Indian who didn’t choose to leave here, we cant help but root for him! He only has a few starts left in his career and then the HOF talk will begin.

It is hard to argue with his stats, but when you look at some of the pitchers and players who had better careers then him, who are not in the hall, it makes it a tough argument. I will be pulling for him.

Q – Rosie, Hamilton, Underwood, Manning, Andre Knott. One must go, one must stay. Who are you keeping, who are you letting go?

A – This is tough because I love all five. If you’re going to twist my arm I guess I would say Knott leaves, but it is awfully hard to see him not in that role.

I absolutely love Matt Underwood and think he is so much better then he gets credit for.  He is my keeper in this mix.

Q – What is your favorite Cleveland Indians moment?

A – Opening Day at Jacobs Field in 1994 is a close second, only to the ALCS Game Six win in 95, to earn our first trip to the World Series in 40 plus years! Greatest feeling as a kid ever!

Q – What is your most painful Cleveland Indians memory

A – I don’t know how anyone wouldn’t choose Game Seven of the 1997 World Series if you are old enough to remember it. Not only the most painful moment as a baseball fan, but also a sports fan. Unlike 2016 against the “Cubs”, we led going into the ninth. Such cruel pain.

Q – Should the Indians have kept  Gio Urshela and moved Jose Ramirez to second, getting rid of Jason Kipnis?

A – Said it then and l’ll say it now, yes!

The sports landscape changed in the spring of 1994 when the Cleveland Indians moved into their new stadium at the corner of Carnegie and Ontario.

No longer the joke of the league, The Jake made them the jewel of baseball and helped revitalize a city and a fan base.

For the first time ever, these interviews and stories from the players, managers and front office personnel give the inside scoop on what happened on the field, in the dugout and behind the scenes of this exciting time in Cleveland sports history.

  1. I just want ONE World Series. That’s it! I want it this year. I don’t care how good the Astros anfd Yankees are. Get it done with what we have.

  2. Matt Underwood has to go , the man is flat out boring , and he can take Jensen Lewis with him
22 wins in a row , it took 100 years to do it , and we will never see anything like that again ..
As far as losing Wahoo .. I don’t have a problem , all my memorabilia , has gone up in value .

  3. 22 win streak? Get TFOH. Not even the top 10.

95 game 6 ALCS, 95 the night we clinched the division and the 2016 run

Rosy, Hammy, Matt and Knott must stay

Trade Kluber this off season for a bat.

We have a higher percentage to the WS as the wild card. We would need the Twins to up end Houston. We can beat the Yankees and Twins.
Dodgers are in a very week National League

While I loved Chief Wahoo. Whatever….just win
