Everyone Reaches Base in R-Phils Loss

The Reading Fightin Phils fell to the Harrisburg Senators 14-5 on Thursday night.

Reading notched four hits: doubles from Jhailyn Ortiz and Hunter Markwardt and singles from Josh Ockimey and Kevin Vicuna. Everyone in the starting nine reached base successful.

Harrisburg put up four runs in the third on four hits. They added nine more in the sixth on five hits and four walks. The Senators batted through the lineup and then some.

The R-Phils plated four runs in the seventh, one off Ockimey and the other three on walks. Reading batted through the order for the second time this season.

A ground ball from Markwardt scored Wendell Rijo in the bottom of the ninth to make it 14-5.

Noah Skirrow got the start going three and two thirds’ innings allowing six hits and four runs, three earned. He tied a career-high six strikeouts. Mike Adams had the ball for 1.1 innings letting up four hits and four runs. Julian Garcia got two outs and five runs across. Austin Ross made his season debut allowing just three hits and a run in 2.1 IP. Matt Seelinger closed out the game with a clean frame.

The Fightins will play at FirstEnergy Stadium tomorrow against the Harrisburg Senators with a 6:45pm first pitch. Adam Leverett will get the ball.
