Congrats to the Panthers who took home more awards than any other Lorain County team, in a landslide!
Elyria Catholic Panthers will advance in the playoffs after a 42-14 win over the Clear Fork Colts.
Panther Levi Ellis punched in the first score on a 2-yard rush after eight plays for 72-yards.
Tony Grasso jumped Colt Victor Skoog’s pass and returned it to the 17-yard line. Ellis scored his second touchdown of the night on a 12-yard run to double the lead, and Mason Haliburton ran untouched for 37-yards to up the score 21-0.
Clear Fork put together a promising drive to move the ball inside the Panther’s 30, but a sack from Aiden Knepshield put the Colts in no-man’s land. The Panther’s regained possession, and Ellis capitalized on a 10-yard rush to the end zone with 1:19 remaining in the half.
Skoog’s connected with Trystyn Robison put the Colt’s in position to cut the lead. Two defensive pass interference penalties gave the Colts one more untimed down, and Skoog scrambled 6-yards to put his team on the board.
The Panthers lead 28-7 at the half.
Defense dominated the third quarter, but Ellis got the jump in the fourth on an 87-yard run to tack six on the board.
But the Colts weren’t sleeping, and Skoog found Mason Sansom for a 59-yard score seconds later to slice the score.
The Panthers docked a final score to secure the win after Knepshield took a direct snap 7-yards.
The game ended 42-14. Ellis rushed 212-yards and scored four touchdowns on 18 carries. He also added two interceptions on defense.
The Players of the Game are Levi Ellis and Victor Skoog.
