Eastern Michigan Eagles

Last year’s record: 7-6
Overview:
Last season was a up and down year for Eastern Michigan with a 7-6 record and a 4-4 conference record. The Eagles are returning eight players on offense and six players on defense, giving them the second most returners in the conference. Taylor Powell is a former transfer from Missouri and Troy who has some playing experience on both of those teams. The SR will add experience to the Eagles offense in a position that was expecting a drop off from last season. The running back room once again has depth thanks to the projected feature back Samson Evans and Lamar transfer Jaylen Jackson who will get some touches this season. The WRs this year look even better than last season due to returning almost everyone. This Eagles O-line is projected to be top in the conference, according to experts this unit has been hard to predict the past few years. The defense has just six returners, there may be a small drop off compared to last season. Jose Ramirez is a defensive end that I am projecting to have a big year this season for the Eagles.
Dom’s Outlook:
Eastern Michigan is in a comparable situation as Western Michigan where they both have a solid team but are in the West. The West has the top teams in the conference, Eastern Michigan will have to pull off a few upsets to get to the MAC championship game. With a fairly easy non-conference schedule, which should help the Eagles get to a bowl game for the second year in a row. If Eastern Michigan struggles even a little bit this season it could be disastrous during MAC conference play. The Eagles play eight conference games this season, I have them as an underdog in five of those eight games.
Prediction:
In almost any other year I would Eastern Michigan as a top three team in the West, this year is so stacked that it drops them down to fifth behind Western Michigan. A team they tied last year. In non-conference play they can go 3-1 with wins over Eastern Kentucky, Louisiana, and UMass. Conference play could be killer this year for the Eagles. I have them at the absolute best winning seven game this season. At the very worst I see them winning only four games this season. It can be a tough season this year for the Eagles if they are not at their best each week.
