Does WWE Have A Jade Cargill Problem?

It’s time for WWE to deal with the Jade Cargill Problem?

Jade Cargill was the top free agent signed by the WWE in 2023, and for good reason.  She has a world of potential based on her million dollar look and unlimited star power.  She has charisma, she has aura, she commands a crowd upon arriving on the scene and can hold them in her hand. She can hit any power move you want and sell Pay Per Views.  There is only one small problem with Jade, SHE CANNOT WRESTLE!

The WWE would have been wise to allow her to spend time in NXT “polishing” her tools, but they knew they needed her for WrestleMania 40 and rushed her to the main roster.  After a brief stint in the Royal Rumble protected her well, she disappeared for months before showing up on Smackdown a few weeks before Mania.

The original plan to have her face Bianca Belair one on one at WrestleMania was quickly scrapped when they simply couldn’t get her ready in time.  She would have been exposed badly in a solo match with Belair and the WWE was smart to scrap those plans, instead they protected her in a six women tag match alongside Belair and Naomi against Damage CTRL. She did okay, but again, wasn’t asked to do too much.

She was finally exposed ( and we’re just not talking about her nipple popping out several times during the match) at Backlash earlier this month.  The WWE badly needed her to carry her weight in a Tag Team Title match alongside partner Belair against Damage CTRL.  While Asuka and Belair did their parts, Cargill was an epic disaster.  She didn’t properly sell a single bit of offense from her opponents, was sloppy on tags and couldn’t do anything except pick up Kari Sane and slam her down, over and over again.  He entire move set consisted of a variation of a choke slam, and that was it.

Cargill was bad, really bad at Backlash and it was disappointing to see.  The WWE used to have the same issue with the Big Show back in 99 before The Undertaker took him under his wing and The Big Show went on to become great.  The WWE badly needs someone to take Cargill under their wing and show her the way.  I don’t need if they need to bring back Alundra Blayze to manage her, or Jackie or whomever, but the need to get it fixed.

Cargill is sensational to look at, she commands your attention quickly, but all that will go away quickly if the in-ring product doesn’t improve. Was Tony Khan right to let her go without a fight?  Was Khan right to keep her on TBS later on Friday nights on a show (Rampage) that no one was watching?

Time will tell…..
