Devin’s NFL Week 6 Best Bets

Welcome back for another week of Best Bets! After a rough start to the season, everybody should be feeling better this week after a nearly perfect Week 5 slate. Before we dive into this week’s action, let’s take a look back at what finally went right.

Green Bay covered the -3 in their matchup with the Rams, a 24-19 victory, and it never really felt in doubt despite the closer score. I took the Texans at +1, though they closed as favorites. Kai’imi Fairbairn hit a game-winning field goal to give Houston the win over Buffalo 23-20.

I thought that the Cowboys-Steelers total was way too high and I turned out to be right, as Dallas’ 20-17 win stayed under 44. Remember when I said “nearly perfect”? The total in the London game between the Jets and Vikings game was set at 40. Minnesota came away with a 23-17 victory, hitting the total on the head and giving us a push. Overall, we can’t really complain about a 3-0-1 week.

Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s dive into the Week 6 slate. As always, I’ll pick a favorite and underdog against the spread, along with an over and an under. Can we string together back-to-back good weeks? Let’s find out, here are my Week 6 Best Bets.

Favorite

Cleveland Browns @ Philadelphia Eagles (-9.5) Sun. 1 pm FOX

The Cleveland Browns are an absolute dumpster fire and there are no signs things will change anytime soon. The offense has yet to crack the 20 point mark and the defense has given up 30 twice. Philadelphia hasn’t exactly gotten off to a hot start at 2-2, but this is a chance for them to get things right. If the Eagles can score three touchdowns, this one should cover easily.

Underdog

Buffalo Bills @ New York Jets (+2.5)  Mon. 8:15 pm ESPN

If I’m being honest, this is a gut pick more than anything. The Bills are coming off a blow-out loss to the Ravens and a heartbreaker to Houston. The Jets just fired Robert Saleh and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett was demoted, putting all the pressure on Aaron Rodgers. He’s well past his prime at this point, but he’s still Aaron Rodgers. The fact it’s the Monday Night Football game makes me feel even better.

Over

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New Orleans Saints O41   1 pm FOX

The Buccaneers are coming into this one with an extended break after an overtime loss to Atlanta last Thursday. Even in the loss, Tampa Bay still managed to score 30, their third 30-point game of the season. On the other hand, New Orleans is turning over the reins to rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler. The Saints have shown the ability to score points earlier in the season, but they might only need ten points for this game to go over the total.

Under

Indianapolis Colts @ Tennessee Titans U43   1 pm CBS

When I was looking at potential picks this week, this total seemed a little odd to me. The Titans managed to put up 31 points in their last game, but that number is deceiving. 17 of those points came via field goal and a safety, showing their offense can’t finish drives. Indianapolis scored 37 last week, but it was against Jacksonville, potentially the only team worse than the Browns. I think the under hits pretty easily here.

Record: 9-9-2
