Garfield Heights, Ohio – Cuyahoga Heights came into Tuesday night one of four undefeated teams remaining in Northeast Ohio. At the end of the night, after Holy Name lost to Strongsville, the Red Wolves remained unblemished, thanks to a 52-45 win over host Trinity.
Cuyahoga Heights led 10-7 after the first quarter, as Braylan McClardy had four points, and Nate Biggers sank a triple. They would lead by as much as 17-11 in the second before triples from Dom Locklear and Chris Bell put the Trojans on top. The Red Wolves would regain the lead, 21-20, going into the half.
Trinity led 26-24 midway through the third quarter before Cuyahoga Heights went on an 8-0 run to close out the quarter. Nate Biggers and Cam Davies each sank huge triples to give the Red Wolves the lead.
They would maintain their margin heading into the final period, but Trinity would cut their deficit to 40-38. Aidan Duncan had a pair of buckets, being one of seven Trojans to score in the period.
Cuyahoga Heights responded with a 10-0 run, starting with a Nate Davies connection from long range. After a miss, Cade Davies converted a huge layup after drawing contact. He converted the and-one and the Red Wolves’ lead swelled to 46-38. After a steal and layup from Nate Biggers, the lead increased to 48-38.
Despite a pair of triples from Keenan Hughes and Dom Locklear, the Red Wolves hung on to win.
Cuyahoga Heights (15-0, 5-0 CVC Metro) travels to Cardinal Friday evening to continue conference play.
Trinity (9-6, 2-4 CVC Metro) travels to Berkshire to Friday evening to continue conference play. Nine different Trojans scored, led by senior Dom Locklear, who had nine points, followed by senior Chris Bell’s seven.
