The Columbia Raiders defeated the Brookside Cardinals in Wellington High School 48-33 in a big D3 matchup! While there may have been a few forfeits here and there because of school size, Brookside put up a great fight in a tight dual. Columbia had a few wrestlers out due to sickness or injury as well. The Raiders had ranked wrestlers in #2 Bodey Gibbs at 106 pounds, #5 Michael Frye at 113 pounds and #25 Xavier Hendon at 150 pounds. Divison 3 rankings courtesy of Billy Schaefer at borofanohio.net

126 lbs: Tanner Cochrane (COLUMBIA) FALL Tripp Taylor (BROOKSIDE): Cochrane with the duck under takedown to scoop up 3 points, with an arm bar he continues to try to get Taylor to his back. Cochrane settled back and scooped up 4 nearfall leading 7-0 early in the 1st period. Cochrane with 4 more nearfall as time expired, leading 11-0. Cochrane with the fall from the armbar after a ferocious Taylor fight!

132 lbs: Andrew Sorenson (COLUMBIA) FALL Luke Walls (BROOKSIDE): Sorenson with the slick front headlock to scoop up the first takedown of the match. Sorenson with the bow-and-arrow cradle to win by fall!

138 lbs: Elijah Lopez (BROOKSIDE) FALL Brendan Leitch (COLUMBIA): Lopez with a nice double leg takedown to open up the scoring, Lopez with 4 nearfall after a tilt which allowed him to take the 7-0 lead at the end of the 1st period. Lopez with the takedown and pin to get things going for the Cardinals!

144 lbs: Aydan Smith (BROOKSIDE) FALL Tyler Helwig (COLUMBIA): Helwig with the single leg from short offense but Smith hit the spladle to win by fall! WOWZA!

150 lbs: Ricky Fatica (COLUMBIA) FALL Brandon Kukes (BROOKSIDE): Fatica with the double leg to start the match, with a half nelson he is your winner by fall for the Raiders!

157 lbs: FORFEIT

165 lbs: Chase Dennison (COLUMBIA) FALL Robert Bess (BROOKSIDE): Dennison with the high crotch to open the score with 2 point nearfall and goes up 5-0 over Bess. Dennison with the big boy half nelson that was TIGHT which produced 4 more nearfall! Bess got an escape, but Dennison was tough from neutral scoring a double leg takedown. Dennison with the half nelson into a fall!

215 lbs: Jaxon Llado (BROOKSIDE) FALL Alex Andrews (COLUMBIA): Llado with the go behind takedown to start the match, after Llado continued to rideout Andrews, he is your winner by fall!

285 lbs: Braden Bowen (BROOKSIDE) DEC. Nate Chapman (COLUMBIA) 5-2: Bowen with the mat return to snatch the takedown but Chapman was able to escape in the 2nd period making the score 3-1. A stalling call on Bowen and we have a 3-2 match! A locking hands call on Chapman and Bowen is up 4-2 with 20 seconds to go! Despite the Chapman rideout, Bowen is your winner by decision 5-2!
