For Oregon the game plan is simple. PLAY BETTER ON OFFENSE. If they don’t then it’s likely all over early. They need to score points quickly and often in what I expect to be a track meet.
Anthony Brown Jr. was a threat with his legs last week and would like to be more of a threat passing. He didn’t have that many attempts, only going 15-24 for 172 yards and 1 passing TD.
Brown’s 16 carries for 56 yards and 1 rushing TD was quite similar on the stats of starting running back CJ Verdell. Verdell tallied 18 carries, 74 yards and 1 TD. Both will have a challenge against the stout OSU defensive front.
If Brown is to find that success in the air previously discussed, then senior wideout Johnny Johnson III will be an integral part of that. He will need to test the Ohio State defensive backs and find ways to get into open space.
The entire Oregon defensive is carried by a top ten prospect for the upcoming NFL Draft. Defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux is a difference maker and explosive off the edge. He got a little banged up last weekend and was listed day-to-day throughout the week. As long as the ankle injury was not too severe, expect him on the field today. He will have a tall task against Nicholas Petit-Frere and Dawand Jones.
