Cleveland State vs. Youngstown State Men’s Basketball Game Selected for ESPN Broadcast

Per Matt Kearney of CSU Media Relations

Cleveland, OH-The Horizon League and ESPN announced today that the Cleveland State men’s basketball game against Youngstown State on Sunday, February 16 has been selected to air on an ESPN linear network as part of the league’s television agreement with ESPN. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. inside the Wolstein Center. The game will air on either ESPN2 or ESPNU with the network designation announced at a later date.

Cleveland State will make its fourth appearance on a linear cable network this season. The season opener at Michigan as well as a non-conference matchup at Minnesota in November were broadcast on Big Ten Network. The Vikings have already appeared once on ESPNU, defeating Purdue Fort Wayne last Thursday (Jan.30) for a fifth consecutive conference road victory. The in-state matchup between the Vikings and Penguins is one of five league regular season games to air on an ESPN network, with Cleveland State featured in the first two television games.

Cleveland State has won 13 consecutive games following the win over Purdue Fort Wayne last week. The streak is currently tied for the second-longest in the nation and is one shy of the all-time mark in program history which stands at 14 games. Cleveland State holds an 11-1 record in Horizon League play and sits in first place in the league standings.

The Vikings and Penguins have already met once this season with Cleveland State winning 80-72 in Youngstown on January 11. The road victory was the eighth win in the Vikings’ current winning streak. YSU is 14-10 overall and 8-5 in the Horizon League.

With the game scheduled for February 16, Cleveland State Athletics is offering “216” themed pricing for the event. Fans can purchase any two single-game tickets for $16, an $8 value per ticket for the nationally televised in-state matchup. Click HERE to purchase tickets at the discounted rate.

In addition to the television broadcast, the game will be broadcast live on WTAM 1100 AM with pre-game coverage beginning at 1:30 p.m. The game against Youngstown State is the final game of a three-game homestand throughout the month of February beginning with Saturday’s game against Milwaukee. The Vikings will be in action again on Wednesday with a road matchup at Northern Kentucky before heading home to take on the Panthers.
