The Mustangs started out on top with an Ed Robinson touchdown. Tiger’s Darreon Fair trimmed the score 8-7 to put the home team on the board, and Cleveland Heights began to pull away with a second touchdown scored by Owen Bisker.
Marquise Davis plowed through the defensive line to up the score for the Tigers. Fair’s second touchdown of the night sent the home team into the second quarter 28-8.
Both teams struggled to possess the ball to start the second quarter, but Tiger snapper Justin Biggom showed up big on an interception to put the ball near the end-zone.
Fair ran for his third touchdown, which held after the referees determined Maple Heights had too many players on the field. The half timed out 35-8.
Fair proved to be a weapon for the Tigers and racked up points in the third quarter, and Taewan Morris’ two-point conversion tallied 50 for the home team.
The Mustangs turned on the motor as the clock counted down, and Jai’Von Baker, Ashton Pugh, and Derrick Williams rallied to close the deficit with three touchdowns to end the game 50-20.
Fair led the game in touchdowns and made crucial plays for the home team.
The Mustangs will travel to face Shaker Heights next Friday, while the Tigers will take on St. Vincent-St. Mary.
