If the rumors are true and common sense finally takes over, Joe Flacco is on his way back to the Cleveland Browns as early as this upcoming March. The plan calls for the Cleveland Browns to establish the quarterback position heading into next season. It is crystal clear that Kevin Stefanski and Andrew Barry are coaching and picking for their jobs at this moment. If the Browns don’t turn it around next year and compete, they are both gone.
In order to do that, they need a quarterback who is comfortable in Stefanski’s system, even if it is a short-term fix while they get their draft selected quarterback Cam Ward ready. That man’s name is Joe Flacco who has run Kevin Stefanski’s system better then anyone else with the sole exception of Kirk Cousins who is not yet available from Atlanta.
In 2023, Flacco threw for 1,616 yards and 12 touchdowns while leading the Browns to a 4-1 record as starter, including a 4-game winning streak. Flacco was brilliant in Cleveland and caused zero problems in the locker room. The Browns have admitted they didn’t bring Flacco back this past season because they didn’t want extra pressure on Deshaun Watson. It is now clear that Watson will never again take a snap for the Cleveland Browns and maybe not even in the NFL ever again. The Browns need a sure thing and someone who can mentor a young draft pick, that mans name is Joe Flacco.
Jameis Winston will be gone and wasn’t the answer anyway. Aaron Rodgers is a giant distraction and wouldn’t be worth the money spent. Flacco has won 96 games in his career as a starter and was a Super Bowl MVP. He mentored Lamar Jackson in Baltimore and Anthony Richardson in Indy, the time is now to bring him into this role until Ward is ready to take over.
The Cleveland Browns have a chance to right a serious wrong, will they do it?
