The season didn’t start off how Nick Chubb and the rest of the Cleveland Browns players imagined. After starting the season off as the No. 2 option behind Carlos Hyde, Chubb quickly made a name for himself.
A 3 carry, 105-yard performance week five in Oakland was the start of what was a record-breaking season for a Cleveland Browns rookie running back. Chubb finished the year with 996 rushing yards on 192 carries.
He was one of the most efficient running backs in the NFL, as he had 14 carries go for 15 or more yards in 2018. Chubb also broke 64 tackles last year, ranking ninth-most in the league. It was clear that he was not an easy player to bring to the ground.
To bring it all together, Pro Football Focus graded Chubb with an elusive rating of 103.3. That is the second highest elusive rating of all running backs with 150 or more carries since 2009.
In 2019, Chubb will handle main duties at running back with newly acquired Kareem Hunt suspended the first eight games of the season. Even with the competition with Hunt when he returns, it won’t be a surprise to see Chubb surpass his rookie numbers in a Cleveland Browns offense that is one of the most talented in the league.
