Larry Ogunjobi is entering his third season in the NFL and is looking to continue to build off of his recent success. Last season, he registered career highs in sacks and total tackles, with his 53 total tackles being the most from any Browns player on the defensive line.
The 25-year-old recorded 5.5 sacks in year two, ranking second on the defensive line trailing only Myles Garrett’s 13.5. With training camp underway in Berea and high expectations on both sides of the ball in Cleveland this season, Garrett expressed his confidence in Ogunjobi and the entire Browns defensive line.
“It’s all about staying healthy and being on the field,” Garrett told the media following day one of training camp Thursday afternoon. ” As long as [Larry] maintains that, he can be one of the most dominant defensive tackles and we can be one of the most dominant defensive lines in the league. He’s just got that talent and he’s got that drive.”
Ogunjobi has played in 30 of 32 games during his brief career thus far, racking up a total of 84 total tackles to go along with 6.5 sacks and one forced fumble. Lining up next to players like Garrett, Olivier Vernon and Sheldon Richardson should only benefit Ogunjobi and a breakout season is certainly in the near future for one of the premier up and coming players on the Browns defensive line.
