Cleveland Browns Fans Are Under Zero Obligation to Show Sympathy on Deshaun Watson

The Cleveland Browns fan base is one of the most loyal on planet Earth.  They have suffered the likes no other fan base has in the history of sports.  Not only have they had the team moved from them completely, but have had a series of bungled picks, disastrous outcomes and worst-case scenarios play out in front of them, time and time again with no sense of hope.

Tim Couch led them to the playoffs in 2002 and the next year, they benched him for a journeyman quarterback.

Since the return to the NFL in 99, their best offensive player Joe Thomas and special teams players in franchise history, Phil Dawson saw one combined playoff game.  Heck, I can even throw Josh Cribbs into that mix and the playoff number doesn’t move.

Brady Quin, Brandon Weeden and Johnny Manziel were all first round busts.  Then they get a legitimate franchise quarterback in Baker Mayfield who leads them to the playoffs and less then 15 months later, they get rid of him.

They find Joe Flacco off the scrap heap last year, and he leads them on a magical run to the playoffs, giving the long suffering fans the joy they deserved.

Meanwhile, Deshaun Watson is getting paid 232 Million Dollars guaranteed, despite being accused of being a sexual predator by 24 separate women, in which he has already settled financially with 23 of them.  What does that tell you?

Watson has done nothing to help this franchise since arriving in March of 2022, he has only hurt it. If the fans, who spend their hard-earned money on parking, concessions, gear and lord knows what else to waste their Sunday rooting on Watson and the Browns, want to cheer or boo, it is completely up to them.

If you want boo, then boo, if you want to cheer, then cheer.  You’ve done your time in Cleveland Browns Hell, and have earned that right.

Enough said….
