Cleveland Browns Answer At Receiver

The Rookies

Anthony Schwartz & Demetric Felton

Well, you hate to put so much pressure on rookies this early into their careers to step up into feature roles, but the Browns may have no choice.   Sure Schwartz was a 3rd round pick out of Auburn last May, but did anyone really expect him to have to take on a feature role so quickly in an offense that featured Jarvis Landry, OBJ, Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt?  I sure didn’t.

Schwartz has proven he can create sparks as he did in week one versus Kansas City.  He had 3 catches for 69 yards against the Chiefs while showcasing blitzing speed. He also had a rush for 17 yards that day as well.

This past weekend against Houston is was fellow rookie, Demetric Felton stepping up.  He only had 3 snaps all game on offense, but produced highlights every time he touched it.  It was Felton’s 33 yard touchdown catch that was clearly the biggest play of the game.  Felton took a two yard dump off pass and broke several tackles on his way to the endzone. The 6th round pick out of UCLA will have a steep and quicker learning curve then expected now.

  1. I like Hollywood and DPJ. They need their opportunities for sure. But, I am a firm believer in putting your best 11 on the field and Chubb and Hunt are in the top 11 for sure. Make it happen, put them out there together and create mismatches.
