With the majority of the starters resting against the Colts, Garrett Gilbert was able to play the whole first half and ultimately making a statement.
For the game, he completed 13-of-19 passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns to get the attention of the coaching staff. Gilbert is currently in a battle with rookie David Blough for the team’s third spot at the quarterback position.
If he can pick up where he left off during the first half against the Colts, there shouldn’t be a problem with Gilbert taking control of the third spot behind Baker Mayfield and Drew Stanton.
