3. Stop the run
The Ravens head into week four of the season averaging a league-best 216 rushing yards per game. Leading the way is veteran Mark Ingram, who has already rushed for 257 yards and five touchdowns through three games.
In order for the offense to get on the field faster, the defense as a unit must limit the big plays on the ground with an offense full of playmakers. Browns defensive coordinator Steve Wilks reiterates this message to his team often and controlling the run is something that is imperative Sunday afternoon.
“I have said it time and time again that there is nothing more demoralizing to a defense than 15, 20, 25-yard chunks right there,” he told the media earlier this week. “It really just takes the wind out of your sails.”
The Browns enter this week giving up just over 100 yards per game and an average of four yards per carry, good enough near the middle of the pack at 13. Stopping the run will not be an easy task against this Ravens team, but being able to limit the long runs will be something to watch for very closely.
