Cleveland,
The A.B.A. season has returned and your hometown Cleveland Blazers host the Indiana Lyons in their home-opener Saturday, November 2nd at 4:00pm. These 2 teams out of the North Central Region faced off two times last year with the Blazers coming out on top in both matchups. The Lyons (nationally ranked) look to change their relationship today.
The American Basketball Association(A.B.A.) is a Men’s Professional Basketball League with 140+ teams across the United States, Mexico, and Australia. Minorities, women, disables, and Native Americans make up 70% of the teams owners. Originators of the Slam Dunk Contest, 3 Point Line, and the Tomahawk Jam, the A.B.A. merged with the N.B.A. (National Basketball Association) in 1976.
It was newly relaunched in 1999 by League Owner Joe Newman and Atty. Richard Tinkham. The A.B.A. offers fans high flying, energetic play, and other novelties such as the 3D Mode, and the red, white, and blue in game basketball.
Many of the A.B.A. players and coaches go on to play or work for other national or international professional teams. The League and Players also work with schools and other organizations through Bully Awarness and Reading programs.
The Cleveland Blazers play their home games at Hawken School in Lyndhurst, Ohio. Saturday games have a tip-off start at 4:00pm, and Sunday games start at 12:30pm.
