Cleveland Basketball Classic: Olmsted Falls Shoots Past Reynoldsburg 50-40

As Paige Kohler reaches her fourth year as a starter for the Olmsted Falls Bulldogs, more eyes are on her then ever, and today she showed why with a tremendous 23-point scoring effort to help lead the Bulldogs past the Reynoldsburg Raiders 50-40.  The second half of the dynamic senior leadership is Mia Kalich who also had a big game with 11 points and countless hustle plays.

Consistency was the name of the game once again for Kalich and Kohler who are now counted on to lead this team as Seniors, Kalich touched on that here, “It comes from our coach every practice and game as we call it championship effort.”  Kohler added in this as well, “All the hard work in practice helps as we push each other every day and it works.”

Also making an impact on the scoreboard for the Bulldogs was Danielle Cameron with 9 points, all coming in the first half.  Erin Birch scored 2 while Jessica Wolanin.

The Raiders were led by the fantastic scoring effort from Aubree Price who had 20.  Also chipping in for the Raiders was Sa’mahn Johnson with 8.

Olmsted Falls jumped out to a 10-2 lead on the strength of buckets from Kohler and Cameron.  They each had a long ball and a field goal in the exchange after Reynoldsburg had scored first. A Mia Kalich foul shot ran the lead out to 11-2 just three minutes into the game. Aubrey price of Reynoldsburg got hot and led a charge that cut the lead to 12-10.  The Bulldogs took a 17-13 lead after one.

The Raiders started out the second quarter ice cold, and didn’t score their first points until 3:35 remained on the clock. The Bulldogs weren’t much better however, and by the 1:55 remaining mark, it was 21-17 Olmsted Falls as neither team could get into a flow. The game went to the half with the Bulldogs up 24-21.  Aubree Price of Reynoldsburg led all scorers with 10.

Price remained hot to start the second half and brought the Raiders within one point.  Paige Kohler then took off for 5 straight to run the lead back out to 31-25. A little later in the quarter, an Aubree Price three ball made it a 2-point game as the Raiders only trailed 32-30 with 1:32 to play. The Bulldogs clung to the 34-31 lead after three.

Paige Kohler led again, scoring the first 5 of 7 points in the quarter to increase the Bulldog lead to 39-33. Mia Kalich then took advantage of a turnover and turned it into points to build the lead to 41-33 with 6:13 to go. The Bulldogs reached the bonus as well with over 5 minutes to go, which also helped create scoring chances.

They would go on to win 50-40 as Kalich also continued to be a force down the stretch to put the game away.
