It was all Magnificat from post to post in this one as they rolled to a commanding 61-23 victory over the Berea-Midpark Lady Titans. A myriad of Blue Streaks led the way as they passed the ball constantly and found the open scorer.
Julia Hall finished with 9 while Katie Maryo and JaCala Onunwor had 8. Leading the Blue Streaks in scoring with 11 was Brynn Roggenburk with 11 and Abigail Rosol with 11. Elizabeth Spear had 7 while Sofia Wilson had 4 and Reese Roggenburk had 3 to finish the scoring as 8 different Blue Streaks reached the score sheet.
For the Lady Titans, they are continuing to find an identity without last years leading scorer Kendall Braaten. Tonight, the points came from Talyssa Moody with 9 and Lauren with 5. Rylee Szoka had 7 on the night as well. Cali Simon also had a point.
The Blue Streaks jumped out to a 13-2 lead on the strength of three balls from Rosol, Maryo and Hall. The Blue Streaks didn’t stop from there and just poured it on the Titans who went ice cold from the floor. By the time the first quarter was over, it was Blue Streaks in front 25-4 as no less than 6 different Blue Streaks scored.
The Blue Streaks remained hot as they started the second quarter on a 10-0 run to push it to 35-4 as Katie Maryo and Brynn Roggenburk drained them from deep. A Moody three would stop the run at 10. Moments later, Moody drained another one after creating a turnover on the opposite side of the court. Despite that little run, it was all Blue Streaks in the first half at they took a commanding 48-12 lead at half. If it wasn’t a three ball, it was an “and 1”, the Blue Streaks were on fire.
A more controlled, slower pace dominated the third quarter, but Berea-Midpark couldn’t seem to inch any closer as the running clock was on due to OHSAA rules of a 30-point differential. After 3, it was Blue Streaks still on top by a score of 55-20.
One of the few highlights for Berea-Midpark was the outside shooting of Moody, who drained another one to start the fourth quarter, her third of the game. The Blue Streaks would go on to win 61 – 23.
At the end of the day the whole situation is so unbelievable. Just feel bad for the girls and their parents! They’re the ones watching this and feeling the pain with their child. Doesn’t matter who is at fault, what matters is the ramifications from the decisions being made at the school.
