Clearview Clippers beat Fairview Warriors 34-0 in Dominant Defensive Effort

The Clearview Clippers hosted the Fairview Warriors to kick off a new high school football season. It was a great start to the season for the Clippers, who played well wire-to-wire in route to 34-0 victory. Great effort from both sides of the ball led to the blowout win.

The Warriors first drive ended after Clippers junior defensive end Josiah Longo sacked Burke Lowry on 3rd down and 11. A big 36 yard catch and run from Tyler Chapman would set the Clippers up with 1st and goal on their first drive. Junior running back Tristin Ientile then ran it in from 6 yards to get Clearview on the board first. JG Hill converted the 2-point conversion to make it 8-0 Clippers. Disaster would strike for the Warriors on their second drive.

A snap over the head of quarterback Burke Lowry was recovered by Devin Jackson of the Clippers, giving the Clippers the ball at their own 20-yard line. Clearview would not be able to capitalize, as quarterback Cy Christensen fumbled on 3rd down, giving the ball back to Fairview. The Clippers lead grew to 16-0 after a 5-yard rushing touchdown from J.G. Hill. The Warriors looked primed to get on the board early in the second quarter, but a pair of sacks from Josiah Agosto and Xavier Ricks led to a turnover on downs.

Vnny Rizzo then got the Warriors the ball right back with a big interception of Cy Christensen. However, they were once again unable to put points on the scoreboard, as Lowry was picked off by Isaiah Garcia on 4th down. The next drive would be more of the same from the Warriors. They would drive into Clippers territory and turn the ball over again, this time on a Lowry fumble. With time winding down in the first half, Christensen would find Devin Jackson open for a 6-yard touchdown. Clearview would take a 22-0 lead into halftime.

Back-to-back sacks from the Clipper defense ended the Warriors first drive of the second half. The Warriors would then make a change at quarterback on their next drive, putting junior Jaelin Arias in. His first pass would be intercepted by Isaiah Garcia. Josiah Longo then scored from 5 yards out to make it a 28-0 Clearview lead. Fairview would go back to Lowry at quarterback in their next drive. The Clippers defense would then get another turnover by forcing a Warriors fumble towards the end of the third quarter.

On the first play of the fourth quarter Warriors defensive back LaMarcus Clark ripped the ball right out of the hands of Tristin Ientile and returned it into Clipper territory. Another stand from the Clippers defense kept the Warriors scoreless. It looked like Clearview hit a huge play when Troy Jones took a screen pass 60 yards down the sideline, but a holding penalty wiped it out. The Warriors would muff the ensuing punt, giving the ball right back to the Clippers. Junior running back Kameron Williams would add one more touchdown for Clearview to make it 34-0 Clippers.

It was a dominant defensive performance from the Clippers in this season-opening win. Led by two interceptions from Isaiah Garcia and 2 sacks from both Josiah Agosto and Xavier Ricks. It’s a strong start for what looks to be a promising season for the Clippers.
