Ciolek & Conti Have The Olmsted Falls Bulldogs On The Prowl

The Olmsted Falls Bulldogs are off to a great start this season at 4-1 through 5 weeks.  They started off with a blowout victory over Lorain.  The following week, a strong second half by Brunswick would erase a Bulldogs lead, and Falls lost their first game of the year.  Since then, they have been on a tear with 3 straight wins over Norwalk, Midview and North Ridgeville.  There was a lot of hype on North Ridgeville coming into that game, but Olmsted Falls put it out of reach

Charlie Ciolek has grown into a leader and winner.  They have opened up the triple option offense and do not stray away from passing the ball when needed. Ciolek has a strong arm and downfield vision to get the job done.  He has proven he is every bit as dangerous with his arm as he is with his legs.

Coach Tom DeLuca had this to share about Ciolek, “I feel Charlie’s ability to stress the opposing team’s defense with his legs and arm is what makes him so dangerous. In the past couple of weeks he has really started to combine his great athletic ability with being a cognitive football player. He is really starting to do a great job of reading the defense pre and post snap. I feel like the sky’s the limit for Charlie when he puts it all together like this!”

Perhaps Cioleks best threat this season is Rocco Conti lining up next to him in the vaunted Bulldog backfield. Conti has been on a tear and continues to make plays all over the ball. He has rushed for 511 yards on 65 carries with 4 rushing touchdowns.  He also has 141 receiving yards on 9 receptions with 2 touchdowns.  Not only that, but Conti returns kicks and punts and is a threat to take it to the house every time he touches it.

One thing about Rocco that a lot of fans don’t even take into account, and they should, is that he plays atleast 5 games a year on thick grass. Think about it for a second, can you imagine his speed on field turf? Now, don’t get me wrong, I love the field at Olmsted Falls and it is by far one of my favorites to cover, but I just thought I would mention that. He is electric and a constant threat to break the game open.

Coach Tom DeLuca has this to say about Rocco, “Rocco Conti is one of those rare players that every coach loves to have. He is a very special athlete. He has a great combination of strength, speed, agility and football IQ. More importantly he has outstanding leadership skills. Not only does he hold his teammates accountable but he holds himself accountable for his own mishaps or mistakes. On top of all of Rocco’s positive attributes to being a great athlete he is equally a great person! He does really well in the classroom and treats his peers with respect.”

This team is dangerous folks, we’ve already covered 3 of their first 5 games, so we’ve seen them firsthand numerous times and I can tell you that they are well coached and fierce.  They do a lot of things well and their defense is also much improved this season as well.  Watch out for Rocco, Charlie and the Bulldogs.

This week our Darryl Epp will be in attendance as they host Elyria.  Also, week 9 Cole McDaniel and Dom Clary will be back in the house to broadcast their game against Avon Lake.  I will personally be there week 10 as they visit Berea-Midpark. And who are we kidding, we are more than likely covering their other two games as well.

Bulldog nation, let’s hear you roar!
