Chagrin Falls defeats Gilmour Academy, 14-2, in Game #2 of PBR Ohio Classic

Gates Mills, Ohio – Chagrin Falls defeated host Gilmour Academy, 14-2, on Sunday afternoon in Game #2 of the PBR Ohio Classic.

Chagrin Falls got their offense jump-started early on.

Senior catcher Leo Fornara hit a two-run home run to left field to put the Tigers up, 2-0, in the top of the first. They would add a pair of runs thanks to an error to increase their lead to 4-0.

In the second, senior Brett Vaccaro hit an RBI single to increase the lead to 5-0. He later added a triple to right field in the fourth, increasing the Tiger lead to 7-0.

Will Kay hit a sacrifice fly to put Gilmour Academy on the board in the bottom half of the fourth. Senior Mick Hopkins added an RBI single to cut the Lancer deficit to 7-2.

Chagrin Falls poured it on in the top of the fifth inning. A wild pitch and a sacrifice fly led to two runs. Vaccaro hit a two-out single to increase the Tiger lead to 11-2. He went 3-4 on the game with three RBI and was a homer shy of the cycle.

Senior and Wittenberg baseball commit Andrew Kirkpatrick (like he did last year) hit a three-run home run to right center field. Kirkpatrick also threw four innings, allowing just two runs and striking out five.

Leo Fornara (who caught the first four innings), pitched an inning of shutout relief to close the game.

Chagrin Falls (3-3) hosts Berkshire in CVC Monday afternoon.

Gilmour Academy (2-5) travels to Cleveland Heights Monday afternoon.
