Cavs 24 Point Rally Falls Short Vs Timberwolves

The night for the Cavaliers did not start off too promising. Donovan Mitchell, Jarrett Allen, and Dean Wade were ruled out before the game between the Minnesota Timberwolves. Then the night got worse as the Cavaliers fell behind early, down 24 at one point in the game.

Then Darius Garland went off and scored 17 fourth quarter points for the Cavaliers. To add to his career night, and one of the best single player performances in Cavaliers franchise history, scoring 51 points, which includes 10 threes on the night, in the 129-124 loss for the Cavaliers to continue the four game losing streak for the Cavaliers in this early season.

The Cavs by the end of the first quarter were down by 20, it was a constant uphill battle from there for the Cavs. Without the team’s best player in Mitchell and a big hole after the first quarter.

The Cavs up until the fourth quarter saw the team play sloppy transition defense, missing easy shots, and not getting any scoring from the bench.

The night for the Timberwolves belonged to D’Angelo Russell and Karl Anthony-Towns. Russell scored 30 points tonight, Russell did not miss a shot until the second quarter of the game, he was a perfect 6/6 in the first quarter.

Towns scored 29 points tonight, and made three of his three point shots. The game also saw Towns come up with 13 rebounds.

The Cavaliers struggled early in this game to come up with any points, after the five game road trip it showed in this game that the team did not have their legs fully back in only the second home game of the month of November.

With two starters being out for the Cavaliers tonight, Kevin Love and Lamar Stevens came in for the start. Love played a huge part in the failed come back for the Cavaliers, scoring 14 points on the night. Stevens came away with 15 points in place of Allen.

The Cavs after the impressive 8-1 start have lost the last four games in a row to drop their overall record to 8-5. The next game for the Cavaliers comes on Wednesday against the Milwaukee Bucks, the game will be back on the road for the Cavs as this game will be played in Milwaukee.

Stopping two time league MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo will be a difficult task for the Cavs, especially with Allen’s and Mitchell’s status in question. The Cavaliers will need to build off the late game momentum to end the four game slide.
