The Cleveland Cavaliers overcame an early first quarter deficit to prevail over the highly touted Milwaukee Bucks tonight, 114-102 at home. The Cavaliers used 38 big points from second year sensation Evan Mobley to counter the scoring absence of their hurt superstar Donovan Mitchell who was out of the lineup again tonight.
Mobley wasn’t the only one to step up big as Darius Garland poured in 21 points as well. Also hitting the double digit mark was Caris LeVert with 13 and Jarrett Allen with 12. It is said that when Mitchell, Mobley and Garland are all healthy and playing at the same time, they may be unstoppable. Mix in a healthy Allen into that crew, and the Cavaliers could compete for a top seed in the East.
The Bucks were without their main Superstar as well, as Giannis Antetokounmpo also sat out. This is two nights in a row that Cavalier fans bought tickets to games expecting to see the likes of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Giannis, and were quite frankly, gipped out of it!
The Bucks were led by Jru Holiday with 28 points and 10 assists, as the veteran had a great game in a losing effort. Meanwhile the Cavaliers are happy to have Ricky Rubio back in the rotation as he had a season for minutes with 18:47 as they slowly work him back into the fold. Cedi Osman led all bench scorers with 13.
This is now the 4th meeting between the two squads this season, with both teams winning their two respective home games. The win for Cleveland snaps a two-game losing streak while the loss for Milwaukee brings to a halt a brief two game winning streak. The Cavaliers now travel to Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night to take on the Knicks, while the Bucks will travel to Detroit on Monday night to take on the lowly Pistons.
The win improves Cleveland to 29-19 on the season while the loss sends the Bucks to 29-17. Tonight’s meeting was the final regular season clash between the two teams. Odds makers have them meeting again in the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
EXCELLENT article! Your best yet Zach H! I agree with you, when all 4 of our top stars are healthy, we will be hard to beat. Let’s Go Cavs! Again, fantastic article, easily your best!
