NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The Baldwin Wallace University women’s basketball team defeated the State University of New York at New Paltz in a NCAA Division III Tournament second round game by a final score of 65-49 inside the Hawk Center.
BW (22-6) advances to the NCAA Division III Sweet 16 on Friday, March 8 and will take on Bowdoin (Maine) College (27-2) at a site to be determined. New Paltz (25-4) ends its season. The Yellow Jackets advance to the Sweet 16 for the seventh time in school history. BW last played in the Sweet 16 in 2022. The Yellow Jackets had three players score in double figures led by junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC Caely Ressler (Napoleon) as she scored a game-high 20 points. Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC guard Emily Irwin (Pickerington/Pataskala Watkins Memorial) tallied 13 points. Sophomore guard Kacie Badylak (Cincinnati/Archbishop McNicholas) contributed 10 points. Junior All-OAC forward Bella Vaillant (Perrysburg) grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds and sophomore guard Alyssa Miller (New Philadelphia) reeled in a career-high 10 rebounds. The Hawks had two players score in double digits led by senior guard/forward Brianna Fitzgerald and senior guard Jenny Walton as the duo each scored 14 points. 1st Quarter (Tied, 6-6)
