BW No. 1 Baseball Falls to No. 14 Misericordia (Pa.) in First Game of Snowbird Classic

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – The No. 1 nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University baseball team competed in the first game of its annual spring break trip at the Snowbird Classic where it was defeated by No. 14 nationally ranked Misericordia (Pa.) University by a score of 12-0 at Centennial Park #10.

BW (3-2) fell to an early deficit in the first inning after Misericordia (3-3) took advantage of a BW miscue and the Cougars never looked back.

At the Plate

• Senior first baseman Max Anastasio (Chesterbrook, Pa./Conestoga) led the Brown and Gold offense going 2-for-3
• Senior third baseman Nick Clark (Willowick/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) and sophomore second baseman Jace Druschel (Tampa, Fla./George Steinbrenner) also each singled twice
• Sophomore shortstop Matt Terzola (Uniontown/Archbishop Hoban) and senior catcher Mark Mohnickey Jr. (North Ridgeville/St. Edward) provided the last two hits for the Yellow Jackets

On the Mound

• Senior All-OAC right-hander Garrett Miller (McMurray, Pa.) got the start for BW giving up two earned runs on five hits
• Junior right-hander Vince Dolcemaschio (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward School) allowed two runs on six hits through 3.2 innings of relief
• Senior right-handers Aidan Bennett (Naples, Fla/Baron Collier) and Gordon Seger (Rome/Grand Valley) each pitched 1.2 innings and surrendered two runs
• Senior right-hander Drew Schaly (Ashland) made his season debut and recorded a strikeout
