MEDFORD, Mass. – Select members of the Baldwin Wallace University men’s and women’s indoor track and field team competed at the Tufts (Mass.) University Qualifying Meet inside of the Gantcher Family Sports and Convocation Center. Each student-athlete competed in order to obtain a qualifying mark to the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championship meet next week.
The Yellow Jackets individual events highlights included:
- Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference distance runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore) won the women’s 3000-meter run in a time of 9:46.35. Murphy broke the BW indoor record that was originally set in 2020.
- Freshman All-OAC sprinter Wesley Noeth (Powell / Olentangy Liberty) finished third in the men’s 400-meter dash in a time of 50.93.
On the relay side:
- In the men’s distance medley relay squad, Noeth, senior All-OAC distance runner Gehrig Stanley (Twinsburg / Benedictine), sophomore All-OAC distance runner Sam Sikorski (Columbia Station / Columbia), and freshman All-OAC distance runner Dillon Hach (Medina) finished seventh in a time of 10:12.11.
The Yellow Jackets will now wait and see which athletes qualify for the 2024 NCAA Indoor National Championships, hosted Friday and Saturday, March 8-9 by Norfolk State (Va.) University in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
