A special Kee On Sports shout out to coach Jessa Schmitz for the birth of her baby boy earlier this week.
When the Olmsted Falls Bulldogs started the night 0 for 4 from beyond the arc, it appeared that it would be anyone’s game. That mirage ended quickly however as they were red hot the rest of the game and buried 8 of them before the night was over for a 71-30 win over their rival Berea-Midpark.
How good is this Olmsted Falls team? Try this stat on for size, tonight alone they had 4 players score in the double digits, and they had 9 players score overall.
One of their best players off the bench is Sara Glover who put up 14 as she scored in every quarter and every way possible. Glover hit two foul shots, two three pointers and three field goals. She is my early candidate for Sixth Woman of the Year.
Allison Milligan who always is a defensive stopper, showed for the second straight game why you have to take her seriously on offense as well. Milligan put up 13 tonight, and let me tell you, each one of them was a hustle point. She never stops working for that extra look, or break away layup off a turnover.
Speaking off hustle points, it was Senior leader Lauren Galaska scoring 10, including an 8-point second quarter that put the game out of reach. She even put one in off the glass at one point in the second. It was Mia Kalich with her usual defensive prowess causing issues. She chipped in 6 points as well.
Paige Kohler continues to be one of the best young players in the SWC. Kohler had herself another strong night with 16 points. All of them coming in the first half, including four straight three pointers to close out the first quarter and open the second.
Grace Simon wasn’t left out of the three ball parade tonight, as she had one as well.
A special shout out to the Olmsted Falls bench bunch of Danielle Cameron with 5, Ashley Keener with 3, and Katie Voisinet with 2.
Two quick fouls on Jenna Bycznski hurt the Titans as she had to sit most of the quarter as well. She would eventually come back in the second half to finish strong with 6 points. But by that point, the game was sadly out of reach.
As I mentioned the game started off pretty close, as it was the two Kohler three balls late in the first that helped build a 14-8 lead for the Bulldogs after one.
Athena Sevastos was sharp again tonight, she would finish with 9 points, scoring 3 each in the first three quarters. Her 3 points in the first, along with a Lindsey Seballos three ball and Yee bucket, amounted for the 8 Titan points.
It was the second quarter that the Bulldogs used to run away with things. A 23-3 quarter was all Olmsted Falls as Galaska and Kohler went off for 8 each, Milligan with 5 and Glover with 2. They began the quarter on a 9 -0 run and never looked back. Athena Sevastos amounted for all 3 of the Titan points.
The second half would amount to more of the same as the Bulldogs outscored the Titans 22-10 in the third, and then 12-11 in the fourth.
