The Bulldogs controlled the pace early with their typical smothering defense. This effected the Comets as they didn’t make their first field goal until two minutes had already gone by with a Jayla Cruz three from the corner.
Speaking of three balls, Paige Kohler had two in the Bulldogs 10-4 run to start the game. This included one stretch of a Mia Kalich bucket, a turnover, and then a Kohler three in a matter of moments. A quick Peyton Roberts bucket on the other end would pull the Comets back in at 10-6.
Shortly after the Comets cut it to a 4 point game, it was Lauren Noernberg joining the three-point party with a three from the top of the key to extend the lead to 13-6. On the next Bulldogs possession, it was Mary Donnelly doing damage from inside of the paint, putting one in and getting fouled. She would complete the three-point play from the foul line and put the Bulldogs up 16-6. The Bulldogs would close out the first quarter up 21-8.
In the first half of the second quarter, Kristen Kelley did everything she could to keep the Comets in it with 7 big points, but the Bulldogs as they often do had an answer for everything. Quick passes and constant ball movement allowed multiple Bulldogs to score as they pulled away to lead 35-15 at the half. Those 7 points from Kelley was all that the Comets could muster in the quarter, meanwhile Lauren Noernberg matched them with 7 while Cameron had 5 and Kalich 2 in the quarter.
The Bulldogs would go on to roll from there, capturing the 63-40 win.
Mia Kalich would lead the Bulldogs with 14, while Paige Kohler had 14, Noernberg finished with 13 and Danielle Cameron had 10 as Olmsted Falls finished the SWC regular season portion of their schedule undefeated.
For the Comets, Kristen Kelly led them with 18 while Kayla Ferancy had 12. Peyton Roberts scored 4 while Natalie Pleban and Jayla Cruz finished with 3 each.
Coaching is awful for are comets 8 loses in a row. This is absolutely embarrassing for our girls. He has been out coached all year long . What in the world where we thinking when we hired him. I can care less if he was a winning boys coach. Well he isn’t winning with our girls. Way to much talent on this team . Bring back the last coach. Admit you made a mistake on forcing him out ….. for the sake of Good OL boy fraternity! Come on this is a great group of girls who deserve so much more in a coach !
