Brunswick Shuts Out Solon 34-0

Brunswick, OH – Brunswick and Solon were both searching for their second win of the season in the Kee On Sports High School Football Game of the Week. Behind a strong defensive showing and stellar quarterback play, Brunswick prevailed in commanding fashion 34-0.

Brunswick’s offense was able to execute on almost every play. They leaned more on their passing game than usual and were able to force Solon to unload the box. Their defense played light outs as they pitched the shut out. The Blue Devils did a good job of clogging the middle and forcing Solon to bounce the ball to the sideline. They also forced two interceptions and a fumble.

Solon’s offense started the game off slow, punting the ball on their first four drives and gaining only two first downs in the first half. In the second half they were able to put together a couple of good drives, but weren’t able to put up any points. Their defense wasn’t able to contain Brunswick’s offense and the Blue Devils were able to drain a ton of clock.

Brunswick’s defense started the game strong holding Solon to a punt. Brunswick put together a good first drive to run the clock and end the first quarter 0-0. Solon was able to hold Brunswick to a field goal that was missed.

Solon had to punt for the second time in only two drives. Ethan Roksandich just overthrew Cooper Neel on a deep pass that would have put them back in the red zone. After the incompletion, Brunswick punted the ball to Solon. After taking a big sack Solon punted the ball back to Brunswick.

After a nice run by Roksandich, he found Cooper Neel streaking down the field for a 47-yard touchdown to take the lead 7-0. Brunswick’s defense then forced Solon to punt the ball for a fourth time in the first half.

After a good drive close to the end of the first half, Roksandich found Collin Kavulic on a 29-yard screen pass for a touchdown to extend the lead to 14-0. After Solon converted their second first down of the game, Brunswick came away with an interception. Roksandich found Sean Barnett for a 24-yard touchdown to go up 21-0.

After coming out of the locker room at halftime down 21-0, things remained much the same for Solon. After forcing Brunswick to punt, Solon needed a response to cut into the deficit. Instead Luke Kormuth threw an interception. Brunswick bounced back on the ensuing drive with a Hayden Swarm touchdown. The ball deflected off of the hands of a defender on a jump ball in the end zone and resulted in an 18-yard score to extend the lead to 27-0.

Solon drove down the field well, gaining two first downs, but Solon fumbled to give Brunswick the ball back. Brunswick threw an interception on a screen pass on the last play of the third quarter.

After the interception, Solon started with their best field position all game. With a fourth down inside the 10 yard line, Brunswick deflected a pass in the endzone to force a turnover on downs.  Cohen Easa followed that up by breaking a couple of tackles to take a 21-yard run in for a touchdown to extend the lead to 34-0.

The player of the game was Ethan Roksandich who had 4 touchdowns on 12/18 passing and 198 yards.
