Brunswick, Ohio – The Brunswick Blue Devils hosted the Euclid Panthers at Brunswick Auto Mart Stadium for a conference rivalry game. The Blue Devils went on to shut out the Panthers 37-0, putting up a dominating performance in front of their home crowd.

Brunswick started off the game with the ball on their own 35-yard line. It did not take long for the Blue Devils offense to move down the field. After three explosive plays, the Blue Devils were set up inside the Panthers’ red zone. On their fourth play of the drive, Blue Devils running back Cohen Easa punched in a 10-yard rush to give Brunswick a 7-0 lead with 10:21 remaining in the first quarter. Euclid started their first drive on their 35-yard line.

The Panthers did not have as successful of a first drive as Brunswick did. After a short-lived five-play drive, the Panthers were forced to punt after a Blue Devils’ defensive stand. Brunswick, hoping to have a successful drive like their first, was not able to move the ball as effectively, resulting in a punt giving Euclid the ball back on their own 26-yard line. Euclid, trying to bounce back from a poor opening drive, was not successful again, resulting in a quick punt, setting the Blue Devils up on their own 32-yard line.

Brunswick, trying a new tactic, kept the ball on the ground and pounded their way into Euclid territory on four plays. Brunswick quarterback Sean Barnett kept the offense in a good tempo, and gave the ball off to Cooper Neel, who ended up scoring a 4-yard rushing touchdown to give the Blue Devils a 14-0 lead over the Panthers with 1:36 remaining in the first quarter. Euclid got the ball back, and their drive was pushed into the second quarter, setting them up in their own territory.

Continuing their drive in the second quarter, Euclid attempted to make a push to score, but the Blue Devils’ defense was just too much and forced yet another Panther punt. Brunswick started their first drive of the second quarter on their own 30-yard line. The Panthers defense came up sharp and shut the Brunswick offense down, resulting in a quick punt. Brunswick punted the ball out of the endzone, setting the Panthers up on their own 20-yard line.

Euclid was making great progress to begin their next drive, but a costly fumble in their own territory set the Blue Devils up on the Panther 41-yard line. The ground game continued to dominate for Brunswick, as they set Hayden Swarm up for a 4-yard jet sweep rush to give the Blue Devils a 20-0 lead. The extra point was blocked, keeping the score at 20-0 with 6:22 left in the first half. Euclid started their next drive up in good field position on their own 35-yard line.

The Panthers offense was halted yet again and forced to punt. The Blue Devils’ defense rushed the kick, blocked the punt, and set Brunswick up in amazing field position on Euclid’s 25-yard line. The run game was stopped by a tough stint by the Panthers’ defense. Brunswick kicker Vincenzo DiTeodoro added three more points on a 36-yard field goal to give the Blue Devils a 23-0 lead over Euclid with 2:04 remaining in the first half. Euclid started their next drive on their own 35-yard line.

An impressive 54-yard strike set the Panthers up in enemy territory with under 1:00 left in the 2nd quarter. Euclid was on Brunswick’s 20-yard line with under 0:15 seconds left. On 4th down, Euclid quarterback Kylan Steuball dropped back and was attempting to hit his target on the run, but the Blue Devils defense forced an interception and took a 23-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The third quarter started off with Euclid receiving the ball on their own 20-yard line. The Brunswick defense held firm and forced yet another Panther punt. The ball on the kick rolled back into Euclid territory, setting the Blue Devils up on the Panthers’ 44-yard line. The Blue Devils kept the ball on the ground with four straight handoffs to running back Cooper Neel, marching deeper and deeper into Euclid territory.

On the fifth-straight rush by Cooper Neel, the running back punched the ball into the endzone on a 15-yard rush, giving the Blue Devils a 30-0 lead with 8:08 remaining in the third quarter. Euclid started their next drive on their own 20-yard line. Quarterback Kylan Steuball had a deep strike to one of his receivers for a 54-yard gain. This drive looked to be very promising for the Panthers, but yet another costly interception shattered their momentum, setting the Blue Devils’ offense up on their own 47-yard line. The remainder of the third quarter belonged to Brunswick as they took their drive and a 30-0 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Brunswick Blue Devil drive continued to punish the Panthers’ defense, already gassed from being on the field the majority of the game. Brunswick kept pounding the ball on the ground as the time ticked and continued to roll the remainder of the game. The Blue Devils scored yet another rushing touchdown by running back Collin Kavulic for an 8-yard rush to give Brunswick a 37-0 lead with 7:10 remaining in the game.

Euclid started their final drive of the game on their own 20-yard line. A quarterback change was made, putting backup Dion Russell into the game. The Panthers had made four-straight short pass completions, taking chunks down the field and having tempo to continue a great drive. Dion Russell then kept the ball on the ground with quarterback draws and also split the carries with running back Dante Darby Jr. for many positive gains. Euclid was in the red zone with under 0:45 remaining in the game, clock running. The Blue Devils held strong on the first three downs in the red zone.

The Panthers had one final attempt to score and avoid the shutout on their own 5-yard line with 0:10 seconds left. Quarterback Dion Russell took the ball and was stopped short on Brunswick’s 3-yard line as time expired, giving the Blue Devils a 37-0 shutout on conference rivals. Despite being blanked, the Panther gave it their all, but it was all Brunswick in this contest.
