With all eyes on Deshaun Watson in his return to the NFL, it was the Cleveland Browns defense and special teams that stole the show in a 27-14 victory.
Watson was held to just 12 of 22 passing for 131 yards with an interception. The poor play of the offense was bailed out however with a tremendous defensive performance that saw two touchdowns to go along with a special teams punt return touchdown to secure the victory.
The Browns trailed 5-0 late into the first half when Peoples-Jones took a punt return 76 yards for a touchdown to draw the game to 7-5 at the half. The Browns used defensive touchdowns from Denzel Ward and Tony Fields to build the lead to 24-8 with a little over 8 minutes to go in the game. They hung on from there for the 27 – 14 win.
This improved their record to 5-7 on the season. They will now travel to take on red hot Cincinatti next week. Cleveland won the prior matchup at home earlier this season on Halloween Night.
